Hometown Skater Eddie Del Grosso Signs With ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers
The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Monday that defenseman Eddie DelGrosso has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season. DelGrosso also becomes the second Vegas product signed to the team, joining center Chris Francis.
DelGrosso, 28, a 2003 graduate of Centennial High School, first played for the Wranglers in 2010-11. After playing 18 games in Finland (six goals, two assists), the 5-foot-11, 201-pound defenseman finished the season in Vegas with three goals and eight assists. He appeared in two games for the Wranglers in 2011-12, and spent last season with the Netherland’s HYS The Hague, averaging more than a point a game with 19 goals and 33 assists in 37 games.
“Eddie is another player we’re very excited to have,” said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill. “There aren’t many players in the league who see the ice like Eddie does. He has amazing poise with the puck and can run any power play. He’s always creative and confident.”
In four years (2006-10) at the University of Nebraska – Omaha, DelGrosso recorded 24 goals and 85 assists, and was named alternate captain his senior year. He also spent three seasons (2003-06) with the United States Hockey League, collecting 34 goals and 52 assists in games with the St. Louis Heartland Eagles (2003-04) and Indiana Ice (2004-06).
The Wranglers open their eleventh season of hockey in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies. For the entire Wranglers schedule, please click here for a one-page PDF.
