UNLV announced that the Santa Clara Broncos college team will be coming into Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday.  UNLV was set to take on the University of Reno Nevada, but was advised that team was not coming in. So UNLV searched and in comes Santa Clara which has a 5-1-1 record with an 18-1 win over San Francisco State and 17-1, 15-2 wins over San Jose State’s D3 team.  The first game will be this Friday 5:30 pm at the SoBe Ice Arena on North Rancho Drive, then we’re told game two will be 11 am Sunday at the Las Vegas Ice Center on Flamingo Ave. That will be the first-ever UNLV game at the Ice Center.

Today, goal scorer Vito Carlo of Las Vegas and the AAA Utah Regulators 16u is off to Chicago for the Nike Bauer Tournament to take on the Troy Sting, Naperville Sabres of Illinois and the East Coast Eagles of North Carolina. We will have updates on those games right here on Vegashockey.net  Vito has 3 goals this season for the Regulators.

On Halloween Eve, Zach Pochiro of Las Vegas had an assist – his 8th of the season – for the WHL Prince George Cougars who lost a tough OT game at home, 3-2 to the Vancouver Giants. The crowd was 1,289 at the CN Centre in Prince George, Canada. Five of the six Prince George home games have gone overtime this season.

This will be a huge weekend for Gage Quinney of Las Vegas and the WHL Prince Albert Raiders. The team plans to retire the #9 jersey of its most famous player – Mike Modano, a Prince Albert alum and long-time captain of the NHL Dallas Stars.
