Huntington Beach, Ca. – Chris Francis and Sam Braniff worked on the top line to help firepower the Las Vegas Tour Rebels to two wins here in a NARCh Platinum Pro Qualifier on Friday night at The Rinks-Huntington Beach.

Francis, who played for the ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers this past season, scored 3 goals. Braniff, a top scorer for the UNLV Rebels ice team, had two goals.  Las Vegas beat the Cowboys, 6-3 and then Red Army 3-2.

Andrew White, the younger brother of Matt White, scored 2 goals on Friday night. Andrew Tamura had one goal, as did Cody Williams

“We played well but we know we can play better,” said Nick Robone of Las Vegas. “Our new goalie (Mike) Urbano was solid in the net, making the saves he had to make. The good news is that everyone is healthy and ready to go this afternoon.”

Las Vegas will take on stronger teams here Saturday starting with the Labeda Clippers.

Notebook –  Nick and Chris Francis will be coaching the Tour Rebels 11u team here this weekend as well….

“Well I never had a chance to see Ryan play since I can’t drive from home to UNLV and back after dark, but I’ve known Ryan (and his parents and his sister) for almost 13 years. We moved into our subdivision literally the same weekend in 2001, and until recently we lived two doors from each other. He’s a really cool kid (I am roughly twice his age, so I think he’ll give me a pass on calling him a kid), very intelligent, very likable, and always friendly. Well he might get upset and a little less friendly when the Packers lose, but so do I since we both grew up Packer fans. Cheers with a Big Dog’s brew from our favorite Las Vegas Packer bar!

The Las Vegas Tour Rebels NARCh pro roller team will be playing without its star Micah Sanford tonight in Huntington Beach. Micah is injured and not available. The Rebels do have a giant goal scorer in Chris Francis who is one of the best, most productive skaters here in town. The games begin tonight.

Also playing tonight will be the Las Vegas Battalion pro team which will be competing in the Gold Level.  One of the players for the Battalion is Chris Raveling,  an all-heart skater and who has played previously in the NARCh Nationals.

Steven Hoernicke, a big goal scorer with the AA Las Vegas Jr Wranglers 18u, has graduated and will be off to University of Colorado Boulder this fall. He is working out on the ice this summer with coach Matt Edlin over at the SoBe Ice Arena.

Vegashockey.net has had its most hits and views Tuesday, Wednesday and today in nearly two months. Much of the interest is coming from last week’s BCHL West Warriors Las Vegas Prospect Camp. Huntington Beach, Ca. –  Scoreking Micah Sanford of Las Vegas is injured and is not on the travel list for the Las Vegas Tour Rebels pro roller team which begins play Friday night in a NARCh Qualifier at The Rinks-Huntington Beach.

“Micah got struck with an inadvertent helmet in a game the last time we played in NARCh,” said Rebels team leader Nick Robone. “He was struck in the nose area. He didn’t bleed much at the time but when he went home and checked it out surgery was needed.”

— Eddie Samuels, the Western scout for the BCHL West Kelowna Warriors after watching Jason play at a spectacular high level in the West Kelowna Warriors Las Vegas Prospect Camp at the SoBe Ice Arena. Jason, 19, is the Central Scouting Service’s #1-ranked player in the BCHL. He had 23 goals for West Kelowna last season.

Huntington Beach, Calif. – Adam Stio’s Las Vegas Battalion is sending in a men’s pro roller team to the NARCh Qualifier here at The Rinks-Huntington Beach.  The Battalion practices and plays AIHL pro games at the Southern Nevada Sports Centre on 3585 West Diablo Drive.  This is a first-time team which will play on the gold level.

The skaters include Jeff Nguyen, Chris Raveling, Chris Lombardo, Eddie Davis, Jared Joeger and goalie Eric Hernandez.

Steve Chelios is the new head coach of the AAA West Coast Renegades 18u in Utah. He signed a three-year deal, the team announced.

//Goal scorer Vito Carlo and goalie Gage Roberts of Las Vegas will play for the AAA West Coast Renegades 16u beginning this fall.

//Brendan Harris of Las Vegas is off to the main camp of the USHL Cedar Rapids Roughriders on Thursday. He had an awesome season with the NAHL Wenatchee Wild coached by Bliss Littler.

//The Las Vegas Tour Rebels roller team is getting set for a NARCh Pro Qualifer for this weekend in Huntington Beach, California

//GM and coach Adam Stio about to announce plans for his Las Vegas Battalion travel roller teams. They are putting together a team for a NARCh Qualifier. Evan Zucker was a top, skilled player for the Battalion last season.

A small army of coaches and scouts will be at Global here in town. If you are a player looking for a team, this is best place to go.
