Las Vegas –  Isaiah Letendre, the new scoring phenom in town, made some electrifying attack runs to the net for the WSHL Las Vegas Storm last night but it just wasn’t enough.

The #1 Valencia Flyers, 10-2-0 and leaders of the pack in the WSHL Western Division, spread their offense, powered about and skated with an edge to their game while beating the hometown Storm 9-1 on Thursday night at the Las Vegas Ice Center.

Letendre, wearing jersey #10, worked on the top line with big hometown goal scorers Arrigo Burgener and Vincent Dekumbis. Letendre scored the only goal – his 8th of the season – from a high-traffic slot area for Las Vegas on the North Rink.

Valencia got three goals from Alexandre Dey and two from Evan Johnson. Valencia goalie Garrett Kingsbury, who has a 2.21 gaa and a 90.5 save percentage, got the win.

Las Vegas was coming off a tough, physical road series against the Superior Colorado Roughriders with two OT games and a one goal win.

From the Blue Line –  Letendre, who is from Alberta, swarmed about at high speed – his only speed, actually – on the ice throughout the game..He is an exciting skater to track during a game…..Mikey Yochum, a callup from the Storm’s midget level team, took a hard, awkward check while against the boards. He was off for the ice for awhile but returned late in the game…Valencia captain Nicholas Wilton left the ice with a problem above his right eye area…Las Vegas defenseman Jake McKenna played very well. He is vastly improved in all phases of his game, making smart, precise outlet passes….. The Storm’s Kody Holmes had a great skate – really giving it his all – and teammate Dawson Rowley worked hard to get some scoring opportunities…Outside the rink it was very cold and windy….Valencia’s big team bus was in the parking lot…Las Vegas, off to its best start at 6-3-1, plays against Valencia in two more games, Friday and Saturday nights at the Ice Center…The Storm has one of the best game programs we’ve seen in Las Vegas – 8 pages, in color, with pics of Storm players, snapshot bios of featured skaters plus statistics….Quinn Travis, a great player and goal scorer, will be back in action for Las Vegas in the Sunday game….Las Vegas has three goalies on its roster: Jaedon McConnell, Linus Rosengard and Andre Spens.
