ANTHONY GREENER, AARON BACA SCORE 2 GOALS
AS UNLV GETS 4-GOAL BURST IN 3RD TO WIN 7-4!!
Provo, Utah – With time ticking down, coach Eddie Kawa’s UNLV Rebels turned it up, stepped on the accelerator and took off here Friday night.
The Rebels scored four times in the third period to rally and defeat Utah Valley State College 7-4 at Pikes Arena. The Rebels’ top goal scorer, Anthony Greener, got his 7th and 8th of the season and linemate Aaron Baca scored two more as UNLV won its fourth game in a row and raised its season record to 6-2-1.
UNLV scorched 54 shots in a game with a fiery third period. With 12:43 to go, Rebels defenseman Ryan Krametbauer locked up with an opposing skater in a scrap and both players were asked to leave the ice.
The two teams return here for a Saturday night game.
REBELS NOTEBOOK – In the last four games, UNLV in the third period has outscored opposing teams 13-2 — which really is an amazing statistic….
Elsewhere on Friday night: San Jose State, the #1 rated team in the West, beat #4 rated Colorado Buffaloes 4-1 before a large crowd at the LogicTech Ice Center in San Jose….Colorado led 1-0 early….San Jose, at 14-0-1, is off to its best start in club history and its lineup includes Alex ‘Blackjack’ Redmond of Las Vegas…
Since the two losses to UNLV, #5 rated UCLA has rebounded with two road wins – 8-0 and 10-2 over Stanford and is now 9-3-0….
