FOR WSHL LAS VEGAS STORM, IT’S A MATTER OF PRIDE

By Lee Samuels

Las Vegas – This is it, the last weekend of the season for the WSHL Las Vegas Storm. Hopes of battling into a playoff situation came to a sudden halt for the Storm when the WSHL Arizona Hawks upset the Long Beach Bombers to clinch the last remaining playoff spot last weekend. So for Las Vegas, all is left for the last three games is a matter of pride.

Las Vegas takes on the WSHL Arizona Hawks in a three game series which begins Thursday 7 pm at the Las Vegas Ice Center. The final two games are there Friday and Saturday evenings. Both games have a 6 pm faceoff on the North Rink.

Storm coach Gabe Gauthier said “first of all our season is not over. We have three games against a good team. We are at home. I’ve told our players let’s go out and play hard this weekend.”

Las Vegas is 2-1-0 vs the Arizona Hawks in games played October 9, 10, 11. Las Vegas, at Arizona, won 6-5 OT, 3-2 and then lost 4-1.

Hometown Las Vegas players for the Storm in the games this weekend include Vito Carlo, Richard Prekop, Cody Parker and a very strong skilled defenseman in Jake McKenna. Jake won the Vegashockey ‘All Heart’ award this season.

Goalie Andre Spens will get the start in the opening Thursday night game.
