Jan. 1 – Rob Pallin and his AA Las Vegas Rebels midget majors go into the New Year with a record of 35-6-1 and are unbeaten in 19 straight games. Chris Francis, with 52 goals, is the leading goal scorer.
Jan. 1 – Pokey Reddick’s AA Las Vegas Outlaws midget minors beat the Utah Stars 9-1 and the Cal Gold Rush 6-2 to complete a 6-0-0 weekend in Southwest League play at the Glacial Gardens in Lakewood, Calif.
Jan. 1 – Eddie Del Grosso scores 2 goals, his 13th and 14th of the season, for the Indiana Ice Jr. A in a 5-2 road loss to the Chicago Steel Jr. A. Eddie, a star defenseman, leads his team in scoring this season.
Jan. 1 – Hayden Knight is the MVP as the Las Vegas Outlaws Mite A’s get the silver medal at the Coyote Cup in Phoenix. The Outlaws won their first four games, then lost a wild one — 9-8 to the San Diego Ice Qubes in the championship game which started at 7:15 in the morning.
Jan. 2 – Jeff Hajner, captain of the Melfort Mustangs Jr. A, leads all Las Vegas Skaters Away From Home in scoring with 22 goals, 28 assists.
Jan 10 – Eddie Del Grosso is named to the USHL All-Star team. Eddie, leading scorer for the Indiana Ice Jr. A, will skate for the Eastern Conference All-Stars in Sioux City on Feb. 7.
Jan 15 – Las Vegas Rebels beat Cal North Stars 7-2 to win gold medal at the MLK Tournament – Evan Zucker, Nick Jackson and defenseman TJ Pacuk named to All-Tournament team. Zucker scored 8 goals as Rebels went 5-0-0 to win the title.
Jan 15 – Las Vegas Outlaws score in OT and beat Dallas Alliance Bulldogs 16u 4-3 in a thriller to win the Outlaws January Tournament. The Outlaws are 28-4-1, unbeaten in 21 straight games.
Jan 15 – Las Vegas Outlaws Mite A’s win all of their games to capture ‘Best of the West’ title in Salt Lake City.
Jan 17 – Mike Sullivan scores and deals an assist while skating for the NorPac All-Stars in a National Showcase for all Junior B leagues at the Glacial Arena in Vernon Hills, Ill.
Jan 18 – Stephen Leypoldt, celebrating his 19th birthday on the ice, blasted his 9th goal of the season for the Butte Roughriders Jr. B during a tough 5-4 OT shootout loss to the Bozeman Blackhawks on Wednesday night. Leypoldt’s goal was really something – he fired a one-timer from the right point and the puck rocketed in the upper left corner of the net. It was the 4th Butte goal in the game, putting the Roughriders ahead 4-3. The game was tied in regulation and Bozeman got the win during a five-skater shootout.
Jan 21 – Eddie Del Grosso’s head coach, Dean Grillo, resigns from the USHL Indiana Ice Jr. A
Jan 22 – Eddie Del Grosso deals personal-best 4 assists as Indiana Jr. Ice beat the Green Bay Gamblers Jr. A 8-2.
Jan 22 – Las Vegas Rebels team-record 27-game unbeaten streak comes to a close in a tough 6-5 ‘Final Four’ loss to the Tri-City Eagles at the Silversticks Nationals in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. It was the Rebels’ first loss since Nov. 11. Chris Francis of Las Vegas was named MVP. He also scored his 61st goal, tying the club record held by Josh Jasek in 2001-02.
Jan 25 – Jeff Hajner came up big, scoring his 26th, 27th goals and 28th goals and dealing an assist as the Melfort Mustangs Jr. A turned back a spirited Flin Flon Bombers Jr. A team 5-1 on Wednesday night before 718 at the Northern Lights Palace. Hajner now has 63 career goals in Junior A hockey, averaging 21 goals a season in his three years at Melfort.
Feb 5 – Chris Francis scores his 62nd goal, breaking a single-season record held by Josh Jasek. Francis scored for the Las Vegas Rebels in a 3-2 loss to the L.a. Kings at the Southwest League Championships
Feb 6 – Pokey Reddick’s Las Vegas Outlaws midget minors get the silver medal at the Southwest League Championships.
Feb 7 – Eddie Del Grosso skates in the USHL All-Star games at Sioux City, Iowa.
Feb 12 – Jeff Hajner, with 36 goals and 41 assists, will skate in his final regular-season game for the Melfort Mustangs Jr. A. Melfort is at Humboldt and then will skate in the Saskatchewan League playoffs.
Feb 18 – Mike Sullivan scores 2 goals, deals one assist as the Ft. Vancouver Pioneers Jr. B beat the Tri-City Titans Jr. B 6-3 to open a best-of-three playoff series.
Feb 18 – Anthony Greener scores 4 goals, gets 5 assists as the UNLV Rebels crush Utah Valley State College 14-2 at the SoBe Arena, Fiesta. UNLV, with a five-game win streak, is now 18-5-1 in its first season.
Feb 19 – In a weekend series Adam Naglich scores 2 goals, deals an assist as U of Alaska-Fairbanks ties Western Michigan 1-1 (Adam gets the goal) on Friday night, then beats Western Michigan 5-3 on Saturday night.
Feb 19 – Rob Pallin’s Las Vegas Rebels beat the AAA L.A. Hockey Club 16u 5-3 at the Kings Challenge Cup and break a team record for most goals, 331, in a single season. The old record of 327 was held by the AA Las Vegas Mustangs in 2001-02.
Feb 19 – Mike Sullivan’s season came to a stunning finish when the Tri-City Titans Jr. B rallied for four goals and beat the Ft. Vancouver Pioneers Jr. B 5-4 to win a best-of-three series, 2-1. Sullivan, who skated two seasons with the Pioneers, had 23 goals, 17 assists this winter.
Feb 20 – The Las Vegas Outlaws Mite A’s, 31-4-3 this season, beat the San Diego Ice Qubes 4-1 to win the gold medal at the Outlaws President’s Day Tournament. Austin Quirt scored 2 goals, Logan English one, Hayden Knight one and Outlaws goalie Tyler Whitehouse got the big win. Las Vegas was 4-0-0 including wins over the Anaheim Jr. Ducks and the L.A. Jr. Kings to get to the gold medal game.
Feb 20 – While on a penalty kill Bobby Burns clears the puck which turns into a 120′ “Miracle Goal” into an open net with 0:54 to play to help the Las Vegas Outlaws bantams beat the high-powered Arapahoe Ice Warriors 3-1 to win the gold medal at the Outlaws President’s Day Tournament.
Feb 20 – Chris Francis scores 11 goals in five games as the AA Las Vegas Rebels midget majors go 4-0-1 win the gold at the Kings Challenge Cup in El Segundo, Calif. Las Vegas beat the AAA L.A. Hockey Club 16u team 3-2 in the championship game.
Feb 22 – Jeff Hajner deals three assists in a playoff game as the Melfort Mustangs Jr. A beat the Flin Flon Bombers 6-1 to lead the best of seven series, 2-1.
Feb 28 – On a cold, snowy night his season — and his Junior A career — came to a close for Jeff Hajner. The visiting Flin Flon Bombers Jr. A struck early and took a three-goal lead to beat the Melfort Mustangs Jr. A 4-1 to win a very physical, hard-fought Best of Seven, 4-3. Hajner, in the seven playoff games, had two goals, eight assists for 10 points. He won many awards while skating for Melfort and was named to the Saskatchewan League All-Star team this season. Hajner, 20, had a monster, best-season ever in hockey with 37 goals, 53 assists and in his three seasons he had a total of 71 goals. He is one of the all-time Las Vegas goal scorers in Junior A and next season he will be skating on scholarship at the Air Force Academy.
March 2 – Chris Francis scores 5 goals as Rob Pallin’s AA Las Vegas Rebels open with an 11-2 win over Tri-Cities midget majors at the Pacific District Regionals at the SoBe Arena inside of the Fiesta.
March 2 – Corbin Brown scores the first two goals as Pokey Reddick’s AA Las Vegas Outlaws midget minors – the defending Pacific District Champions – open tournament play with a 7-2 win over the Puget Sound Tomahawks at the Las Vegas Ice Center.
March 3 – Adam Naglich’s key assist helps U of Alaska-Fairbanks rally for two goals in third period to beat Notre Dame 3-1 to open a Best-of-three playoff series.
March 4 – Matt Hedderly scores in the third OT period as Pokey Reddick’s AA Las Vegas Outlaws midget minors beat the powerful AA Long Beach Jr. Ice Dogs 5-4 in a Pacific District Final Four game.
March 4 – Adam Naglich and the U of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks eliminate Notre Dame 1-0 in a playoff game. Next, the Nanooks will travel and take on Michigan State in a Best-of-Three series next weekend.
March 5 – In a historic day in Las Vegas hockey history, two Las Vegas teams – the AA Las Vegas Rebels 18u and the AA Las Vegas Outlaws 16u – each won Pacific District Regional championships. Ryan King’s dramatic OT goal lifted the Rebels over the Cal North Stars 5-4; the Outlaws defeated a very tough Portland Jr. Hawks team 5-2. Both Las Vegas teams now advance to the U.S. Nationals.
March 10 – In a shocker, Adam Naglich and the U of Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks fought off 10 power plays and beat Michigan State 2-1 to open a Best-of-Three series. It was MSU’s first home playoff loss at their fabled Munn Arena since March 9, 1996.
March 10 – With 1:36 to play the Eddie Samuels, Joel Sauer and Aaron Jeffrey line attacked the net and scored — Sauer on a rebound — to give the Billings Bulls Jr. A a 4-3 win over the Helena Bighorns Jr. A before 2,889 on ‘Spongebob Squarepants Night’ at the MetraPark Arena.
March 11 – Chris Francis, with 83 goals, set 6 Las Vegas midget major records and Tim Douglas, with 33 goalie wins, set a record for most wins in a single season. Francis, Douglas and the AA Las Vegas Rebels are getting set for the U.S. Nationals which begin March 28 in Pittsburgh.
March 11 – It is cold, blustery with snow falling on our rink roofs on Saturday morning.
March 12 – Freshman Adam Naglich of Las Vegas had a huge season, playing on the top line for the U of Alaska-Fairbanks, but it all came to end Sunday in a 7-4 playoff loss at Michigan State. Alaska-Fairbanks a week ago took out Notre Dame, 2-0 and 1-0 in playoff games and then shocked Michigan State 2-1 on Friday night. However, MSU won the next two games to win the CCHA Best of Three playoff series, 2-1. Naglich, who scored five goals and dealt four assists his first season, and an exciting U of Alaska-Fairbanks team with a lot of young, skilled skaters finished 18-16-5 for the year.
March 24 – Micah Sanford’s season came to a close as the U of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks lost 9-2 to #1 rated Boston U in a NCAA tournament game in Worcester, Mass.
March 24 – Eddie Samuels dealt one assist as the NAHL Billings Bulls closed out their regular season with a 6-1 win over the visiting Minnesota Blizzard Jr. A. Billings finished its regular season with a season-best 4 game win streak.
March 25 – Eddie Del Grosso, 20, skated in his last regular-season Junior A game. He dealt two assists for the Indiana Ice Jr. A in an 8-5 road loss at Sioux City.
March 26 – The Las Vegas Outlaws Mite A’s beat the Phoenix Polar Bears 11-3 and win the Sonoran League gold medal at the Alltel Ice Den in Scottsdale, Az. for the weekend, the Outlaws went 4-0-1 and raised their season record to 39-4-4.
March 28 – Eddie Del Grosso deals two assists – including the game-winning pass – as the Indiana Ice Jr. A open a Best-of-Five series with a stunning 4-3 OT win over the #1-seed Cedar Rapids Roughriders Jr. A.
March 29 – Chris Francis scores 4 goals, deals 2 assists – a six-point game – to help AA Las Vegas Rebels beat the Hyland Hills Jaguars 7-6 to open play at the U.S. Nationals in Pittsburgh. Francis scored the last 4 goals of the game for Las Vegas.
March 30 – Dan Fremuth, radio voice of the Billings Bulls Jr. A, gives Eddie Samuels the ‘#3 Star of the Game’ in a 5-1 loss at Bozeman Ice Dogs Jr. A in the opening game of the playoffs. “Eddie played hard, was gritty and gave it his all on the ice,” said Dan.
March 30 – Eddie Del Grosso is named to the USHL All-Defense 2nd team.
April 1 – Ryan King’s dramatic OT goal lifts AA Las Vegas Rebels over the New Jersey Devils 6-5 to move the Rebels into the Final Four at the U.S. Nationals in Pittsburgh. On Saturday night, with 0:03 to play, Butler Valley, Pa. scores in a scramble in front of the Rebels net to win 3-2. Las Vegas, which set many records this season, finished its season at 56-11-4 with gold medals at the SilverSticks Regionals, L.A. Jr. Kings Challenge Cup and the Pacific District Championships.

April 1 – Eddie Del Grosso’s 1 goal, 2 assists lead Indiana Ice Jr. A to a stunning 7-2 win at Cedar Rapids Roughriders Jr. A. The win gives Indiana a 2-1 lead in the Best of Five — however, Eddie D and the Ice were eventually eliminated during the first round of the USHL playoffs.
April 25 – Las Vegas Outlaws announce that Ken Quinney will be head coach of the two-time defending AA Outlaws midget minor team this coming fall.
April 27 – Ken Allen, father of Steve Allen and grandfather of Las Vegas skater Jason Allen, passes away in his sleep following a battle with cancer. For years, Ken was at the area rinkboards to watch Jason skate in ice and roller in Las Vegas.
May 5 – Happy birthday Eddie Samuels, age 20 today. Happy Birthday Ryan Krajniak, age 18 today.
May 12 – The LV Rebels are no more — Rob Pallin’s new team will be called the AA Las Vegas Ice Cats midget majors and will skate out of the SoBe Arena inside of the Fiesta.
May 12 – Coach Rob will take an AA Las Vegas 18u team into the Memorial Cup Tournament at Glacial Gardens in Lakewood, Calif.
May 18 – Pokey Reddick will coach the Las Vegas Outlaws 18u ice team this fall. Eric Penn will assist on the bench.
May 21 – Adam Tamura/Shawn Pearson’s AA Las Vegas Sin City Snipers bantam roller team wins the gold at a NARCH qualifier in Irvine, Calif.
The Snipers are now qualified for the upcoming NARCH Nationals – the World Series of roller.

June 15 – After six seasons, 247 wins, two trips to the U.S. Nationals, coach Rob Pallin says that’s it. He steps down as head coach of the AA Las Vegas Rebels midget majors to accept a scouting position with the USHL Omaha Lancers Jr. A and the NORPAC Ft. Washington Pioneers Jr. B. The Rebels, meanwhile, announce that Matt Edlin will be the new coach of the Rebels 18u team for the new season.
June 20 – Roy Henderson’s long-awaited Global Showcase hits town and is a smash hit at the Las Vegas Ice Center on Flamingo. There were 240 skaters including Bryce Reddick, 16, who said he received offers from the BCHL Cowichan Capitals Jr. A and the BCHL Langley Chiefs Jr. A for 2006-07.
June 23 – Long-time Las Vegas skater and unsung hero Mike Sullivan, who skated for the Ft. Vancouver Pioneers Jr. B last winter, said he plans to retire as an active skater. He is training to become a fireman in Las Vegas later this year.
June 24 – Eddie Del Grosso was hacked, chopped down and speared – but he scored 3 goals, dealt 5 assists for the Rob Pallin-coached Las Vegas Alumni who crushed Utah 13-5, on Saturday at the Fiesta. On Friday, Las Vegas beat Utah 10-2.
July 2 – Jeff Hajner off to ‘Boot Camp’ at the Air Force Academy.
July 12 – Stephen Leypoldt signs to play with the Tulsa Rampage Jr. B this fall.
July 14 – Chris Francis 5 goals, 3 assists in five games with Team Maroon 17u at the USA Hockey Festival in St. Cloud, Minn.
July 14 – It’s scorching hot – 115 degrees today in Las Vegas.
July 18 – Ryan King of the AA Las Vegas Rebels midget majors announces he will play at North Vancouver Pioneers Jr. B in the NorPac this season. North Vancouver’s Las Vegas alumni in include Mike Sullivan (who played there two seasons) and Jason Allen (one season)
July 23 – Eddie Samuels scores 3 goals, deals 6 assists in four full-check scrimmage games in the main camp of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs Jr. A in Minneapolis. Eddie will skate for Fairbanks this coming season. He reports on August 20.
July 24 – The AAA Las Vegas Sin City Snipers bantam 16u roller team is off to the NARCH Nationals in Missassauga, Canada. Las Vegas will open vs. the Mission Rolling Gators on Wednesday afternoon.
July 29 – After going 4-1-1 and moving from the original 20-team field into the Final 10, the AAA Las Vegas Snipers bantam team have worked their way into the Final 4 at the NARCH Nationals. Robbie Silvernail, with 9 goals, is the leading scorer for Las Vegas.
July 29 – Kris Carter scored 2 goals and Robbie Silvernail and Dylan Bunker also scored as the AAA Las Vegas Snipers bantam roller team upset #1 seed D-young Gunz of New York, 4-2. The Las Vegas team will take on the St. Louis Tour Blast 89s for the NARCH gold medal.
July 29 – Las Vegas gets the silver — the first-ever silver medal for Las Vegas at NARCH — following a 7-0 loss to powerful St. Louis in the gold medal game.
Aug 3 – Very sad day for Las Vegas hockey – many attend the funeral of hockey dad George Ross whose son Ryan played for many youth ice teams. George, like most hockey parents, spent hours at the rinkboards watching his son at tryouts and the games.
Aug 12 – Micah Sanford announces he has signed a pro contract with the ECHL Bakersfield Condors.
Aug 13 – John Paul McNicholas will play for the AAA Long Beach Jr. Ice Dogs midget majors this year.
Aug 15 – Josh Jasek announces he will play for the UNLV Rebels college team this season.
Aug 17 – Rob Pallin, scouting for the USHL Omaha Lancers Jr. A, leaves for Europe to size up some import skaters.

Aug 19 – Conrad Trimbath, in his 2004 yellow Dodge Neon, will begin a 2,800-mile drive from Las Vegas to southern New Hampshire. The trip will take 3 1/2 days. Conrad’s sister, Anna, will split the driving. Conrad is reporting to the Northern Cyclones Jr. Elite team for his second season of play.

Sep 1 – Ken Quinney’s AAA Las Vegas Outlaws midget 16u team opens the new season at the New England Labor Day Faceoff Tournament in Marlborough, Mass.
Sep 4 – The AAA Las Vegas Outlaws 16u go 4-1-1 and reach the Final Four of the 12-team New England Labor Day Faceoff Tournament. Goalies Steve Bolton and Morgan Marinello get two shutouts during the season-opening weekend.
Sep 8 – Shaun Stackhouse scores his first goal in Jr A hockey. He gets a power play goal as the Richmond Hills Rams Jr A in Canada beat King City Wild, 6-0.
Sep 8 – Chris Francis gets a key assist as the WHL Portland Winter Hawks rally and beat the Tri-City Americans 5-4 in a pre-season game.
Sep 10 – UNLV adds Josh Jasek, Anthony Marinello, Colby Cookson, Troy Mueller, Adam Tamura and goalie Brandon Rial as its new skaters for 2006-07. The team will have three goalies, veterans Chris Tate, Tito Munoz and freshman Rial.

Eddie (5 goals, 6 assists) and Max (3 goals, 6 assists) are off to a strong start for the 6-5-0 Ice Dogs.
Oct 8 – Anthony Greener, Aaron Baca, Derek Koehler and Anthony Marinello each have three-goal hat tricks as the UNLV Rebels ice team crushes Utah Valley 15-5 at the Peaks Ice Arena in Provo, Utah.
Oct 10 – Eddie Del Grosso scores in his first college game to help the U of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks beat Manitoba 8-0 in an exhibition game before 3,176 fans at the Qwest Center in Omaha.
Oct 20 – Jeff Hajner gets his first college point – an assist on Air Force’s 5th goal of the game – in a tough 6-5 loss to Bentley College.
Oct 20 – UNLV beats Walla Walla College 11-0, 12-4 in a weekend series.
Oct 20 – Eddie Samuels is named captain of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs Jr A. He scores 1 goal, deals 2 assists in tough 4-3 OT loss vs. the Wichita Wildcats Jr A.
Oct 27 – Eddie Del Grosso and Jeff Hajner each score their first college goals on the same night – and their teams win by the exact same score!
Del Grosso scored for the U of Nebraska-Omaha in a 7-5 win over Western Michigan; Hajner scored for the Air Force Academy in a 7-5 over Huntsville-Alabama in a game played in Tampa, Fla.
Oct 28 – Tim Mueller is the bench coach as the UNLV Rebels, upset 4-3 the previous night, go into a ‘must win’ game and beat Loyola-Marymont University 14-1 on home ice. UNLV now has an overall record of 5-7-0.
Nov 8 – UNLV Rebels announce that Tim Mueller and Rob Pallin will coach the college team the rest of this season. UNLV, 5-7-0, is rated #13 in the West and needs to be rated #10 or better to qualify for the regional tournament.
Nov 9 – Wally Lacroix is announced as the new head coach of the AAA Las Vegas Outlaws 16u team which has a record of 12-7-2.
Nov 10 – Bobby Burns is named MVP of the Tilton Academy junior varsity football team in New Hampshire. He will now play ice hockey and later, baseball at the Academy.
Dec 3 – Anthony Marinello scored 3 goals for UNLV Rebels college team in tough 7-6 loss to Texas A&M in a Sunday morning game at the SoBe Arena. UNLV won two out of the three weekend games.
Dec 3 – Pokey Reddick’s AA Las Vegas Outlaws 18u went 5-0-0 and won the Silver Sticks Regional at the Las Vegas Ice Center. Las Vegas beat the Calgary Stampede 2-1 in the gold medal game. In a Final Four game, Las Vegas had 4-short-handed goals, including two by Kyle Clay on the same shift, to beat AA Cal Gold Rush, 6-0.
Dec 6 – Eddie Samuels announces he will play with the NCAA UConn Huskies next season.
Dec 20 – Shaun Stackhouse, in overtime, blasted a 50′ shot into the net to lead Chris Francis and the Las Vegas Rebels to an 8-7 win over the Alumni skaters at the SoBe Arena. Playmaker Conrad Trimbath was named the MVP. Francis had three goals for the Rebels while Eddie Del Grosso scored three for the Alumni.
Dec 29 – Stephen Leypoldt was injured in a car accident in Butte, Montana. He and a teammate were driving to meet the team bus when their vehicle slid on an icy highway and went into a ditch. Stephen crawled out of the passenger side window to safety.
Dec 30 – Kyle Clay is the biggest goal scorer in town with 35 goals, 21 assists for the AA Las Vegas Outlaws midget majors.
Dec 31 – On New Year’s Eve, Ryan King scored his 14th goal of the season as the Fort Vancouver Pioneers Jr B beat the Puget Sound Tomahawks, 11-1.

Dec 31 – Kyle Clay is named Player of the Year and Pokey Reddick is the Coach of the Year in the annual Vegashockey.com awards. Aaron Baca, captain of the UNLV Rebels, is named ‘All-Heart.’ A record number of on-line voters participated in selecting the winners.
