Here are ten questions sent in by a variety of readers

Is the NHL team coming to Las Vegas

//The owner is set, the arena is a go, just waiting for NHL owners approval

Who will coach the NHL Las Vegas team

//We are told there will be a GM with NHL experience. The same with the coaches, all NHL level.

My son is going to a junior hockey tryout. What will the coaches be looking for.

//Skating is #1 on any scout’s checklist.

How good was Micah Sanford years ago

//He was the best roller player we’ve ever seen. In ice hockey Micah was the first from Las Vegas to play on the AAA midget level, the BCHL with the Chilliwack Chiefs and NCAA Division One with Omaha-Nebraska. He carried the torch as the best in Las Vegas for many years.

What is the latest with Beau Ricketts

//Beau is in Minot, North Dakota. He works for a concrete company. In the evenings he plays for a men’s hockey team at the Maysa Arena there in town. The Maysa is the same arena Beau played at when he skated for the NAHL Minot Minotauros.

Did goal scorer Adam Naglich ever fight when he played for the BCHL Victoria Salsa.

//Our son Eddie Samuels was on the Victoria team and told me Adam never lost a fight. Not too many of the enforcers went after him and remember Adam was a great goal scorer for that club.

Where is roller player Chris Raveling of Las Vegas

//We checked and Chris, who played a lot of roller at Crystal Palace on North Rancho Drive, is looking at returning to roller in the fall. This past winter he did a lot of snow boarding.

At a game, do scouts pay attention when players warm up for a game.

//Years ago we saw captain Mike Modano of the NHL Dallas Stars warm up at game speed. He led a pack of teammates. We noticed the same when we watched Steven Avalone of the Nevada Storm 16u warm up in a good, hard skate before a tournament game last winter at the Las Vegas Ice Center.

My son is going to the Global camp at the Ice Center. He wants to get on a team. How important are his grades in school.

//Scouts will ask how your son or daughter is doing scholastically.

What else does a scout look for in a tryout camp

//They will look how he skates on and off the ice, what he does on the bench, his overall game.  But skate speed is #1 on their checklist.

What’s the latest on Zach Pochiro

//Zach had an upper body injury at the close of last season while playing in the ECHL. He plans to return to the ice this coming Monday to shake out and see where he is at. Zach, from Las Vegas, is a draft pick of the NHL St. Louis Blues.

For once and for all – is there – or is there not – a roller floor beneath the ice at the Las Vegas Ice Center.

//We checked and the roller floor was removed years ago. However, we were told they could lay a roller floor on top of the ice.

Who was Eddie Del Grosso’s defensive partner when he played for the AA Las Vegas Mustangs 2001-02

Pretty sure it was 6’5″ Chris Anderson.

How good were defensemen Richie Crossley and Devin Lane

For two seasons – with the AAA Las Vegas Outlaws and the AA Las Vegas Ice Cats – they were the #1 defensive pair in the city.

Where is the former hockey coach Rob Neumann of the AAA San Diego Jr Gulls

We’ve been on the hunt for the whereabouts of coach Rob for a long time.
