Las Vegas – Tommy Ricketts, a very popular hockey dad – the father of the great Las Vegas goal scorer and team leader Beau Ricketts and younger son Blade – has passed away.

Charla, the wife of Tommy, said he passed unexpectedly last night at his father’s house in Antimony, Utah.

Tommy, 52, was battling assorted medical issues. Two seasons ago he was able to get to the Las Vegas Ice Center on game nights to see Beau play for the WSHL Las Vegas Storm coached by Gabe Gauthier.

When Beau scored 3 times in a win over the Phoenix Knights two seasons ago he said “whenever I score, it’s for my Dad. He seems to be better when I score. It drives me.”

Tommy and Charla were married for 27 1/2 years.

The Ricketts family included Beau’s younger brother Blade who plays in the Nevada Storm hockey program at the Ice Center plus Tulsa, Chy Anne and Kristan.
