Las Vegas goal scorer Gage Quinney today was assigned by the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins to report to the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa. Penguins.
Gage is coming off an awesome season in the WHL. He began the season with the defending champions WHL Kelowna Rockets, then was traded to the WHL Kamloops Blazers where he scored 27 goals in the regular season, then three more goals in the playoffs.
Gage grew up in Las Vegas playing on Nevada Stars youth teams at the Las Vegas Ice Center. His younger brother Landon is playing for the WHL Moose Jaw Warriors.

Las Vegas – Goalie Erik Eidissen, a transfer from Dakota College, will get the start – his second straight one – for the UNLV Rebels against a strong Weber State team on Friday night at the SoBe Ice Arena on North Rancho Drive. The game will begin at 8:45 pm.
Eidissen was in the net for a 3-0 win over Weber last week. Anthony Greener, UNLV head coach, liked what he saw and is sticking with him. Eidissen is from Uplands, Vasby, Sweden. He played two seasons in the WSHL, first with the San Diego Gulls junior team, then the Southern Oregon Spartans.
UNLV is off to a 5-0-0 start and has outscored teams 35-9. The UNLV top goal scorers – Dion Antisin (8 goals), Cody Williams (5) and Viktor Brask (4) are in the lineup for Friday night. Antisin is a powerful force. He is from Kelowna, BC. Cody Williams of Las Vegas is one of UNLV’s all-time great skaters and goal scorers.
The Rebels have three goalies rostered including star goalie Terry Martin of Ardrossan, Alberta, Canada, Alex Feese of Colorado Springs and Eidissen from Sweden.
From the Blue Line – UNLV defenseman Steve Terry is coming off the injury list and is making first start on Friday night….Terry Martin’s hometown – Ardossan, Alberta, Canada – is very small with a population of 417.

Las Vegas – Unbeaten UNLV, off to a strong 5-0-0 start, will take on Top 10 Western power Weber State of Utah in a two-game weekend series at the SoBe Ice Arena on North Rancho Drive. The two teams will play on Friday at 8:45 pm, Saturday, 4:15 pm.

State College, Pa. – Jason Zucker of Las Vegas buried a powerplay blast from the right circle, a game-winner which lifted the NHL Minnesota Wild to a dramatic 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres in an exhibition game on Monday night. Jason’s hard shot went into the lower right corner of the net with 4.6 seconds to play. Matt Dumba got the assist. It was the first exhibition game of season for the Wild.

Las Vegas coach Rob Pallin and HC TWK Innsbruck lost a very tough 4-3 OT road game to Ljubljana Slovenia. Tyler Spurgeon, John Lammers and Mario Lamoureaux scored for Innsbruck which is now tied for first place with Red Bull Salzburg.

San Jose – Romio Scallion scored for the AAA Nevada Storm 16u in a 2-1 loss to the San Jose Jr Sharks at the San Jose Jamboree. Storm coach Micah Sanford said his team played well here Sunday afternoon.
“It was a very good game which could have gone either way. We played a solid game but just did not get the right kind of bounces we needed,” Micah said.
Anthony Bonaldi, a top goalie in town, was in the net for the Storm.

Mike Trimboli of Las Vegas deal three assists including a pass on the game-winning goal to help the EHC Neuwied Bears beat EC Bad Nauhheim 5-3 in the season-opening game in Germany. Those were Mike’s first points as a pro player. The EHC Neuwied Bears were 3-1-0 in their pre-season games.

San Jose – Steven Avalone scored 2 goals, Cameron Zucker 2 goals and Zack McClanahan, Seth Bergeron and Cody Printzen also scored for the AAA Nevada Storm 16u in a 7-1 win over the Utah Renegades here at the San Jose Jamboree. Cameron Birchill was in the net for the Storm.
“We played much better today. We got back to simple hockey and limiting our mistakes – all of this is good,” said Micah Sanford, head coach.
The Storm next takes on the San Jose Jr Sharks here today at 12:30 pm

Ames, Iowa – Jimmy Samuels of Las Vegas and ACHA Kansas University lost a morning road game to Iowa State, 9-4, at the ISU Ice Arena. Iowa State is an ACHA mid-West power. Kansas U is now 2-2-0 this season. Jimmy and his teammates are now heading home, about a four hour drive. “It was rainy during our Saturday night game but now on Sunday it is cloudy, nice and cool,” Jimmy reported as the team was leaving the arena.
