Las Vegas – For the record the UNLV Rebels Grey team beat the Black team 3-2 in a scrimmage Friday night at the Las Vegas Ice Center. And UNLV head coach Anthony Greener liked the Rebels high energy skate and overall play.
“One of our players who stood out was Tristan Mayer who scored two goals. And Dion Antisin played extremely well,” Greener said.
Tristan Mayer, from Woodbury, Minnesota, played on a line rotated with Jake Saxe, Drew Bryan and Mitchell Province. Last winter Tristan was with the Twin City Steel in the NA3HL. Dion, in his debut season with UNLV, skated with Las Vegas players Cody Williams, Ethan Montoya and Axle Anderton. Dion is from Kelowna, BC. He is a transfer from Concordia University in Wisonsin.
The UNLV goalies were Terry Martin, Erik Eidssen and Alex Feese.
“Our defense played really well,” Greener said. “It’s going to a great year. I am so glad our new players will help us go to the next step.”
UNLV opens its season here next weekend with the invasion of long-time rival San Diego State.
