The hockey season is here, at last. Here are the big games for tonight – Friday.

//The mighty UNLV Rebels will open on home ice against San Diego State at the Las Vegas Ice Center. This is a strong, powerful UNLV team looking to go deep into the ACHA 2 playoffs this season. Faceoff is 8 pm on the North Rink. Get there early. It was be packed.

//The Las Vegas Storm H.S. team opens in their first season in the Anaheim Ducks Hockey League tonight vs Servite High School and tomorrow vs Los Alamitos H.S. The Las Vegas High School team got a silver medal in the international Hockey Events Labor Day Tournament in Orange County.  Las Vegas advanced into the gold medal game and lost a very tough 3-2 game to Kern County High School. Mikey Yochum is a top goal scorer for Las Vegas. Sam Kjos and Gage Dunakoskie are goalies.

//Brendan Harris of Las Vegas and a strong BCHL Wenatchee Wild team go into their second game of the season on the road against the BCHL Prince George Spruce Kings. Brendan had two goals against the Spruce Kings in a 5-1 win on Thursday.

//Jimmy Samuels of Las Vegas and the Kansas University Jayhawks open their season on home ice tonight against rival Creighton

//Las Vegas coach Rob Pallin and his HC TWK Innsbruck team open their season this weekend. We will have scores, highlights and other news from coach Rob in Austria.
