Las Vegas – Some familiar names – all great players – including J.C. Lachapelle, Isiah Letendre, Vito Carlo, Jake McKenna and Tino Nummela will be the lineup for the WSHL Las Vegas Storm on Opening Night this Thursday 7 pm at the Las Vegas Ice Center.

Gabe Gauthier will begin his third season as head coach. The Storm will take on a powerful force in 3-0-0 Long Beach Bombers which beat the Fresno Monsters 12-0, 13-0 and 12-0 last weekend.

“Long Beach is a good team, as they have been in the past. They are coming off a blowout weekend against Fresno,” Gauthier said.

Long Beach is in town for three games  – Thursday (7 pm), Friday (6 pm) and Saturday (4:30 pm). Hometown players for Las Vegas include Brenden Fehlig, a gifted goal scorer; Kyle Molony and goalie Rhett Bruckner.

Las Vegas has rostered four goalies including Andre Spens of Espoo, Finland. He had 28 starts for Las Vegas last winter.

McKenna, in his third season with the Storm, has played in a Storm-record 96 games. He is one of the best, most smartest defensemen in the WSHL.

From the Blue Line – Letendre is an awsome player with lightning-like speed. He scored 17 goals last year…Lachapelle is a very hard worker — he plays fiercely and with passion on the ice. He had a strong finish last season and wound up with 13 goals….This should be a big monster-like goal scoring year for Vito Carlo…..McKenna was voted – by a landslide – ‘All Heart’ last winter by readers here at Vegashockey.net…Jake played in 51 games last winter, second only to 52 by Kody Holmes who graduated.
