Manchester, N.H. – Cory Ward of Las Vegas and the ECHL Manchester Monarchs won their opening game of a Best of Seven series over the ECHL Ariondack Thunder, 3-1. Manchester scored on two of its first nine shots to take an early 2-0 lead. Manchester head coach Rich Seeley told reporter Alex Hall of the Manchester Union Leader “…we had chances early and we executed. It is always good to lead a game rather to chase a game.” The crowd was 3836 on home ice at the SNHU Arena

Fort Wayne, Indiana – Chris Francis of Las Vegas and the ECHL Quad City Mallards lost a tough one 4-3 to the hometown Fort Wayne Komets in Game One of a Best of Seven playoff series. The crowd was 5739 at the Memorial Coliseum. In the ECHL Central Divsion the Komets are seeded #2, Quad City #3. Before this game Chris, the captain of the the Mallards, told qconline.com “you work hard all year to get to this point. It’s going to a battle but fun too. We have a great core here and this is where we want to be.”
