Moline, Illinois – The ECHL Fort Wayne Komets won 4-3 in OT over Chris Francis of Las Vegas and the ECHL Quad City Mallards here Wednesday night. The Komets took a 3-0 lead in the Best of Seven. The crowd was 1,969 at the iWireless Center.

Chris and the Mallards got a bad break when hometown right wing Grant Arnold was penalized for playing without his helmet while skating off the ice to make a change late in the third period.

That led to a Komets game-winning powerplay goal in OT. They scored 22 seconds into the overtime.

“I don’t know how my helmet came off, I really don’t,” Grant told the Quad City/Moline Dispatch after the game.

Game Four is here on Friday evening.
