Let the mind games begin.

A thoughtful hockey-smart coach Eric Ballard will be bringing in his Colorado University ACHA D1 team to take on the UNLV Rebels this Friday and Saturday at the City National Arena in Las Vegas.

The top UNLV folks personally know all about coach Ballard and what he brings to a game.

And UNLV GM Zee Khan knows alot about coach B.

“We have known Eric for 15 years. He coached my younger brother Faiz when he played with the AAA So Cal Titans”

And how did that go?

“Decent. He was fair to the players. Pushed them.”

UNLV head coach Anthony Greener crossed hockey paths with Ballard when Anthony was coaching the AA Las Jr Wranglers.

“He was in the Fresno hockey youth organization when our team played his Fresno Monster team,” said Anthony.

“He runs a tight ship. He always puts a strong team together. Definitely will be a battle when his Colorado team comes to
to town this weekend. I think our boys will be pumped to play at our new barn.”

Ballard with ACHA D1 Colorado has had records of 16-14, 20-7, 18-16. His top goal scorer Jake Bauer is back this season. He had 21 goals, 22 assists. Five of Bauer’s goals were game winners. Three of Colorado forwards are 6’3″ and defensemen are towering as well.

From the Blue Line – UNLV is 2-0-0, Colorado will make its season debut….Joseph Kaszupski, a hometown Las Vegas goal scorer, leads UNLV with 4 goals he scored last weekend in the 3-1, 3-2 sweep of Arizona State…UNLV’s unofficial GM Gramps, grandfather of UNLV head coach Anthony Greener, will be at both games this weekend. ..On Friday afternoon UNLV will have a pre-game skate, then starting lines will be announced.
