The John McNicholas hockey family including Mike who skates for NCAA New Hampshire University will see Cory Ward of Las Vegas play today for the AHL Ontario Reign against the San Diego Gulls. John, hockey mom Leean, daughter Clare, John Paul and Mike will see Cory.

Mike and Cory years ago were teammates on Las Vegas hockey teams.

“We coached Mike and Cory when they both played for the Las Vegas Outlaws mites teams. Mike and Cory also played together on a Las Vegas peewee hockey team coached by Ken Quinney,” said John.

“Both Mike and Cory had natural talent as did Zach Pochiro and Brady Burns who were a part of that group. But at that time – so many years ago – there was no history of anyone in Las Vegas going this far in hockey. For example as a point of comparsion Ty Beasley played on a mite team with Jason Zucker. Ty was the top player at that time.”

Mike McNicholas also played several seasons with Gulls forwards Nic Kerdiles and Austin Ortega who will be in the game today as well.

The game will be at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Faceoff 3 pm.
