Flash Update – At the Minot game was hockey dad Tim Purdy who is the brother of Las Vegas hockey dad Robert Purdy. Years ago UNLV coach Anthony Greener coached Robert’s son John Purdy….There was a big festive crowd at the game…When the UNLV players returned to the hotel it was minus-12 degrees. The Rebels will stay overnight and then board the team bus to head for Jamestown, N.D which is a 2.5 hour ride on snow-covered icy highways.  On Friday night in Jamestown temperatures will be in the minus-25 range.

Final Score – Minot broke open a tight game scoring three times in the 3rd period to win 6-2. Goal scorers for UNLV were Chase Torontow (his 2nd goal of the season) with assists from Jonah Pearson, Sheldon Brett. Elijiah Barriga scored his 19th goal with assists from Kameron Fink and Chase Torontow.  UNLV stays in North Dakota and will take on ACHA D1 Jamestown on Friday night.

Minot, North Dakota –  The Anthony Greener coached UNLV Rebels who beat #1 ranked Minot State Beavers earlier this season tonight take on #1 ranked Minot State in their own building – the famous Maysa Arena. Outside the arena tonight the forecast is minus-25 degrees.

Greener was voted the 2017 Vegas Hockey Coach of the Year. Zee Khan of UNLV was voted Best GM and Rebels assistant coach Nick Robone was voted Vegas Hockey Person of the Year. 

Minot has outscored visiting teams 49-13. They will play UNLV here Thursday night, then Arizona State on Friday night.

Tonight the UNLV vs Minot game has a 7 pm local time start.

UNLV is 15-5-0 and ranked #10 in its first season of ACHA D1 hockey. The Rebels play here tonight, then on Friday travel to take take on the #16 ranked Jamestown Jimmies in their arena here in North Dakota. It is brutally cold in Jamestown as well
