Cody Williams, a fearless, dynamic, explosive goal scorer who takes hard routes to the net, will be the captain of the UNLV Rebels ice hockey team this season.

Cody is from Las Vegas. He has scored 87 career goals for UNLV Rebels who are beginning their second season in the ACHA D1. UNLV played in the U.S. Nationals last season. The Rebels in the regular season beat #1 ranked Minot.

Assistant captains will be Bas Assaf, Joseph Kaszupski and Jake Saxe.

UNLV head coach Anthony Greener said “…Cody has earned the C. He’s going to be our first four-year player. He put in the work and help changed the culture of our organization.

“By far this is our best leadership core.

“Bas really has good communication skills and is a leader on the ice.

“Kuzy is a true born leader. He does everything at a high level on the ice.

“Saxe is well respected on and off the ice – a tremendous leader.

“We are excited about all of them to lead us this season,” Greener said.

Bas Assaf is from Rancho Cucamonga, Ca., Jake Kaszupski, Henderson, Nevada and Jake Saxe is from Montreal.

UNLV opens its season against a great rival – the Eric Ballard-coached University of Colorado – on home ice at City National Arena, Las Vegas on Friday, September 14.
