Minot, North Dakota – #16-ranked UNLV continued their weekend trip in North Dakota with a final game versus #18-ranked Minot State Beavers who came into the game with a record of 6-4-2. Looking to rebound from their loss here Friday might at the Maysa Arena the Rebels started goalie Erik Eidissen. The Beavers applied pressure quickly in the crease area keeping Eidissen busy. It was a much cleaner start for the Rebels, creating turnovers and keeping the puck moving out of their zone. At 9:06 into the game the Rebels had a 6 to 5 shot on goal advantage. Eidissen was standing tall and covering rebounds. At the end of the first period Jonah Pearson went to the box with 17 seconds left. Cody Williams of UNLV looked to make a short-handed goal, but just missed at the buzzer.

The Beavers began the second period with 1:43 more on their power play. UNLV played most of the second period short-handed, but had a very effective penalty kill keeping MSU scoreless. Rebels goaltender Eidissen made some tremendous saves to keep the game tight but it was the Beavers who found the back of the net at 6:31 on a Rhett Lough goal. Less than two minutes later at 4:55 Johl Swedlo wrapped the puck around and squeaked one past Eidissen. Fired up the Rebels came back to score on a 4 on 3 power play by Pax Malone with 2:23 left in the second period. Eric Williams and Andrew Marshall were credited with the assists on the UNLV goal. At the end of the second period Minot had out-shot the Rebels 26 to 20.

Early in the third period the Beavers went onto a continuous five minute power play after spearing was called against the Rebels. Johl Swedlo scored his second goal of the game at 14:30 with 2:52 to go on the Rebels penalty. The Rebels killed off the next penalties but still trailed the Beavers by 3-1 with 9:21 left in the third period. Eidissen kept taking hard shots, keeping the game within two goals. UNLV played with a man advantage after two consecutive Beaver penalties and pulled Eidissen to make it a 6 on 4. The advantage was short-lived as the Rebels were called for cross-checking making it 4 on 4 hockey for 55 seconds. Joe Kaszupski of UNLV made a nice turnover in the neutral zone to go one on one with Beavers goalie Effertz who made a big save to keep the game at 3 to 1. With one minute remaining UNLV pulled Eidissen for an extra attacker. However, Minot holds on and sweeps UNLV by a score of 3-1 final. The Beavers had more shots 38-33.
