“Our goal to win every single battle on the ice – win every shift.”

— Wally Lacroix, head coach AA Vegas Jr Golden Knights 16u

By Lee Samuels

Las Vegas – One more game to go and guess what – the Wally Lacroix-coached AA Vegas Jr Golden Knights 16u are still alive and on the hunt for a spot in the Silver Sticks National Championships.

After beating a rugged, hard AA Arizona Bobcats 16u team 2-1 today at the Ice Center the Jr Golden Knights are 1-1-1 in this amazing balanced field of competitive teams. Tonight – Saturday – Vegas takes on the ultimate opponent in the powerful AA Anaheim Jr Ducks.

“We actually have a pretty young team with some 15 year olds in there with our 16 year olds,” Lacroix said. “The key phrase is this – Compete.  Compete on every shift, every puck battle, compete on everything we do while on the ice.”

TJ Toth scored first and then Ian Williams got the game-winning goal for Vegas Jr Golden Knights who were locked in a hard battle all three periods. Vegas goalie Colton Miller made spectacular saves look easy.

It was a riveting game all three periods. After the Golden Jr Knights scored the go ahead goal with 2:46 to play the Bobcats made a power rush to the Vegas net and thought they scored in a pileup of players at the Vegas net but the net was off its hooks on the left side – so it was ruled no goal.

The fate of the Vegas Golden Jr Knights will be determined tonight against the Anaheim Jr Ducks. Game time is 9:15 pm on the North Rink.

From the Blue Line – A very rugged popular player Edward Kadiam of the Vegas Jr Golden Knights 16u injured his left shoulder during the Bobcats game. He was on the left side of a play, took a shot, then fell awkwardly and slid into the north rinkboards.
