Hauppauge, N.Y. – It will be cold and snowing outside The Rinx Arena tonight when the Anthony Greener-coached #11 UNLV Rebels hit the ice against the #15 Stony Brook Seawolves in the first of an ultra-heated two-game weekend series at the Rinx.

These are the last two regular season games for UNLV which has a record of 22-7-2. However, Greener says the importance of these two games will determine where the Rebels will be seeded in the upcoming ACHA D1 National Championships in Frisco, Texas.

Currently the Rebels are seeded #11 which is a good spot per Greener.

“We really want to go to the Nationals ranked #11 or better,” he said.

Stony Brook, 18-9-0 overall, is 10-4-1 on home ice.

Which means there should be ultra-heat in these two weekend games.

UNLV plans to start its #1 goalie Ben Giesbrecht in the Friday game. Overall Big Ben is 15-3-0 with a 1.88 gaa and 92.9% save percentage.

That is awesome arithmetic.

Greener said the Rebels top line will be Cody Willams (“looking for his 100th career goal”), Joseph Kaszupski and Tristan Mayer.

“We know Stony Brook really wants to win and get a higher ranking in ACHA D1 for the Nationals.

“This is what we have to deal with beginning Friday night.”

Game time here tonight will be 9 pm eastern. The Saturday game will be at 7:30 pm eastern.
