Frank ‘Gramps’ Perone Sr., for years the unofficial GM at all UNLV Rebels ice hockey games, will have services on Monday, May 20, 4 pm at Canyon Ridge Church, 6200 West Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas 89130. Gramps’ grandson Anthony Greener is one of the all-time goal scorers and a highly competititve skater who played the game hard in tier hockey here in Las Vegas and was a tremendous captain for the UNLV Rebels. Anthony is now the head coach of ACHA D1 UNLV Rebels. On game nights Gramps would be on the bench near the hockey sticks area where he kept players game-night hockey sticks in order. He was very popular with media and with opposing players as well – a very special, genuine person who loved the sport of hockey, loved talking about the game and loved being on the Rebels bench on game nights. Following church services on Monday there will immediately be a Gramps ‘Celebration of Life’ at the American Legion Post 8, 733 N Veterans Memorial Drive, Las Vegas 89101.

Anthony Greener said this evening …”Gramps was my hero. Growing up with him always being my second Dad and helping and leading my brothers and myself as kids.

“He was the most caring man on the planet and would do anything for anyone.

“What he did for the community in Las Vegas is just a small portion of the kind things he would do throughout his life.

“He truly was one of a kind.

“I am very fortunate to call him my grandfather.

“Tough couple of weeks losing our grandmother three weeks ago and then my hero on Mothers Day but they are both in a better place.’
