Eddie Del Grosso (red) in action vs a mean-spirited defenseman
===================================================
Star defenseman Eddie Del Grosso of Las Vegas was a giant goal scorer starting years ago when he played for the AA Las Vegas Mustangs 17u team in 2001-02. We asked Eddie what were your greatest goals and he said this was one of the best he ever had. Eddie has scored at every level he has ever played. Now, we take you back to March, 18, 2002 in the Pacific District gold medal game. We were there to see one of the greatest games ever played by a Las Vegas team – Lee

Eddie Del Grosso Air-Lifts 170-foot Goal in Wild 6-5 win, as…
WE’RE HEADING TO THE U.S. NATIONALS!!!!

Valencia, California – Talk about pressure. Up one precious goal, 1:30 to play, defending against a forest-fire 6-on-3 attack….
That’s when Las Vegas defenseman Eddie Del Grosso somehow, someway got control of the puck. He chipped a shot ceiling-high. Then he stood, cocked his helmet and watch the flight of the silent puck towards the empty enemy net.
The puck came down, bounced hard, skittered about and went slowly into the net and the red light was switched on.
That made it Las Vegas, 6-4.
And all of a sudden, with exactly 1:27 to play in a faraway rink, the Las Vegas Mustangs and every Mom, Dad and little one knew the team not only was going to win the game, but was heading to the Tier II U.S. Nationals next month in San Jose.
Rob Pallin’s Las Vegas Mustangs beat a strong, proud, incredibly-tough Anchorage Jr. Aces team, 6-5, to win the Pacific District Tier II regional championship at the twin-sheet Ice Station Arena Sunday afternoon.
How big is it?
Las Vegas had never even won a regional game in 17-and-under hockey, that’s how big. Now the Mustangs have qualified for the Tier II national tournament.
