Jason Zucker of Las Vegas and the NHL Minnesota Wild
Special to Vegas Hockey
Las Vegas superstar goal scorer Jason Zucker of the NHL Minnesota Wild tonight received the coveted King Clancy Award for his humantarian work in the city of Minneapolis. A few years ago Jason and his wife Carly met a young boy named Tucker who was stricken with a rare form of bone cancer. Tucker, hospitalized, suggested to Jason he should “shoot the puck more” to score more goals. The two immediately bonded and the Jason/Carly Zucker family became totally embedded in their charitable work in the community. After Tucker passed, Jason embarked on even more charitable activities in Tucker’s memory – and to help all children in need in the greater Minneapolis area. Jason said the King Clancy Award “means much to me, our family and everyone involved.” While growing up in Las Vegas Jason played on hometown ice hockey and roller hockey teams. He played on tier ice hockey teams which practiced and played home games at the Las Vegas Ice Center on Flamingo Avenue.
