Las Vegas –  Freshman goalie Dorian Laganiere will get the start for the UNLV Rebels who tangle with invading Utah University – always a tough club – here Friday night at City National Arena.  Utah has played one game, a 7-1 win over D2 BYU. A former Las Vegas youth hockey star – Joey DiBenedetto – scored two of those goals for Utah.

UNLV, coached by Anthony Greener, is off to a hot 6-1-0 start, is ranked ACHA D1 #12 and is coming off two wins over a soon to be heralded Grand Canyon University.

Tristan Mayer, Jared Turcotte and Kane Toriumi will start on the top line for UNLV. The top defensive pair will be multi-time Vegas Hockey Defenseman of the Year winner assistant captain Eric Williams and captain Bas Assaf. That is an awesome defensive pair, one of the best in the history of the Rebels hockey program.

There is danger lurking in this game however warns Rebels coach Anthony Greener.

“We heard Utah had a good recruiting year,” Greener said. “For sure they will be ready for us. We need to be more disciplined and stay out of the penalty box.’

Game time Friday is 7 pm.

From the Blue Line – Rebels goalie Erik Eidissen will be available if needed in this game. Erik is coming off a great performance in a win over Grand Canyon University last Saturday night…Grand Canyon U is playing two weekend games vs ASU this weekend in Tempe….
