From the Blue Line….by Lee Samuels

Las Vegas – When Utah’s players warmed up last night coach UNLV coach Nick Robone was taking notes on a small piece of paper. “Just writing down their line combinations to make sure nothing has changed from their previous games”….That is, to me, totally interesting….Adam Naglich, one of Las Vegas greatest goal scorers, was with wife and two daughters at the UNLV game Friday night….Adam years ago was on the Red Line in 2001-02 with Josh Jasek and Eddie Samuels for the the AA Las Vegas Mustangs coached by Rob Pallin – that was the first tier Las Vegas team to win a Pacific Region gold medal and advance to the U.S. Nationals….Bet you didn’t know Adam was a star player years ago with the NCAA University of Fairbanks….Team Greener was grouped together and  rooting for the Rebels from center ice at City National…Richie Crossley, who years ago won a Best Defensive Pair Award with Devin Lane while playing for the AA Las Vegas Ice Cats, was on the Zamboni at the UNLV game. “There was a youth tournament all day on the ice and we wanted to make certain the ice would be perfect for the UNLV game,” Richie said. He also does the ice and drives the Zamboni at the NHL VGK games at the T-Mobile Arena…Richie is a cousin of the great defenseman Eddie Del Grosso….The great referee Ryan Townsend of Las Vegas worked the UNLV on Friday night….Bethany Drysdale’s riveting Vegas Hockey feature story on Ryan captured what he is does outside of the world of officiating…Las Vegas skater Joey DiBenedetto sure played well for Utah University which skated with an edge to their game here on Friday night. Joey is an assistant captain…..The WSHL Las Vegas Thunderbirds are now 3-0-0 after beating the Fresno Monsters in a tight one with a dramatic finish. Those teams play again tonight at the SoBe Ice Arena on North Rancho Drive…..UNLV vs Utah back again at the City National. Track UNLV’s D’Andre John during the game and you too will see how great he really is……
