FLASHBACK STORY – SEVEN SEASONS AGO
November 8, 2013
In seven games Jason Zucker of Las Vegas 3 goals, 3 assists for AHL Iowa Wild who are on the road tonight vs the Rockford Ice Hogs in Illinois
The ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers are off to a slow start, but not like the Bakersfield Condors, 0-6-1. The Condors signed vet goalie Andy Chiodo, 30, to help turn their season the right way. The ironry of this is that the Condors are one of the best marketed teams in hockey, averaging 5,440 fans each home game. Las Vegas is at Bakersfield on Saturday night.
Chris Jones, Brandon Beebe and Tyler Wilson were the goal scorers for UNLV Rebels in that 3-3 tie against the Santa Clara Broncos last Sunday. It was the first UNLV game at the Ice Center on Flamingo Drive. Kyle Kimsey was in the net for UNLV. Tonight, UNLV travels to take on Loyola-Marymount in a two-game weekend series. LMU, like most skilled teams, is very tough on its home ice in Bay Harbor, California. LMU 8-6-0, UNLV goes in with a record of 4-3-1.
Hockey dad Steve Allen of Las Vegas checks in, noting son Jason — who years ago played for the AAA L.A. Jr Kings, AAA San Diego Jr Gulls and AAA Las Vegas Rebels – is now in Wyoming and still hits the ice at local arenas to shake out his game. Yes, Steve reads Vegashockey.net each and every day.
Beau Dommer of Utah is one of leaders in most goals, assists for the AAA Colorado Thunderbirds 18u this season.
AAA Las Vegas Storm alum CJ Stubbs of Utah 2 goals, 5 assists for the CCHL Hawkesbury Hawks in Canada.
There is pro roller action this weekend. On Saturday, the Las Vegas Battalions play at the new roller rink in town at 3585 West Diablo (near Russell and Valley View), taking on the OC Cowboys 3 pm, SJC Bullies 5:30 pm and the Anaheim Bullfrogs 8:50 pm.
The Battalions roster includes star skaters Micah Sanford, Nick Robone, Billy Tufano, Andrew Tamura, Shawn Pearson, Axle Anderton plus three players from Arizona. The goalies are Terry Martin and Eric Hernandez.
Roller player Alex Wilson’s grandmother GG recovering nicely from replacement hip surgery. She has watched Alex’s games while at the rinkboards at Crystal Palace on North Rancho Drive for years.
The teams which get the most hits and views here on Vegashockey.net are Anthony Greener’s AA Las Vegas Jr Wranglers 18u and the UNLV Rebels roller team which is off to a big 7-3-0 start in Division One college. There is a huge roller readership here.
