Las Vegas – The great teams – and there’s been quite a few here in town – go into a game, take their time, then slowly begin taking apart their opposing team. Which is exactly what the Wally Lacroix-coached AA Vegas Jr Golden Knights 16u did in a 5-0 win over AA Arizona Hockey Union 16u before a large lively crowd in a Vegas Confetti Cup game at the SoBe Ice Arena.

Hometown goalie Colton Miller did the best shutting down the AHU offense. Heath Mensch fired off powerful blue-streak blasts – much like mighty 61-goal scorer Josh Jasek of Las Vegas did on this level back in 2001-02.  Ian Williams was an absolute sharpshooter throughout the game while scoring two goals.  And Vegas Jr Golden Knight’s Tristan Nelson, the one who really does care for others, played an absolutely great game defensively – his positioning, passing and knowledge of the game on this level is remarkable.

This AA Jr Golden Knights 16u team is loaded with great players and the coaching from Wally Lacroix and Todd Owen is awesome as well – evidenced how their 5 on 3 atttack was set up with perfect positioning with quick sharp passes resulting in a Ian Williams’ fiery blast of a shot for a goal.

It’s all good.

However, this is Game One of a holiday weekend of games. Rougher, more physical teams are ahead on the Jr Golden Knights schedule this weekend.

Las Vegas – The Wally Laxcroix-coached high action AA Vegas Jr Golden Knights 16u open play in the Vegas Confetti Cup Games in two games on Friday. The Jr Golden Knights have top goalies in Zackary Ortolano and Colton Miller. Heath Mensch is a premier goal scorer. John Purdy is an extremely hard-working defenseman. Todd Owen is the team’s defensive coach.

The AA Vegas Jr Golden Knights 16u – known as The Golden Ones – are defending National Champions.

This is an extraordinary team this season as well.
