UNLV Rebels beat Utah 3-1 for 4th win in row, raise season record to 15-11-1

Mikhail Gerasin, WSHL Las Vegas Thunderbirds – 3 goals, 2 assists

Austen Kerridge, WSHL Las Thunderbirds – 3 goals, 2 assists

Joe Terrana, WSHL Las Vegas Thunderbirds – 1 goal, 6 assists

Jerrett Overland of the BCHL Wenatchee Wild dealt a key assist to teammate Drake Usher for a goal early in the game. Wenatchee beat the Trail Smoke Eaters 2-1 in OT.

Fayetteville, N.C. – Derek Sutliffe of Las Vegas scored two big goals for the SPHL Evansville Thunderbolts who were in a late game battle — 5-5 going into overtime — and then the Fayetteville Marksmen got an OT goal from Brett Johnson to win dramatically 6-5 here at the Crown Arena.

Derek’s first goal was on a powerplay assisted by Austin Plevy and Brandon Lubin. Derek scored again – assisted by Lubin.  That was Derek’s 16th goal of the season.

BRENDEN FEHLIG GETS HIS 16TH FOR NA3HL COULEE REGION CHILL

LaCrosse, Wisconsin – Brenden Fehlig of Las Vegas scored the first goal of the game – his 16th of the season – to help the NA3HL Coulee Region Chill take a 7-0 lead over visiting Breezy Point North Stars of Minnesota here at the Green Island Ice Arena.

Valencia, Ca. – Goalie Rhett Bruckner got a shutout win for the WSHL Las Vegas Thunderbirds who won for the second straight night, this time 4-0 over the hometown Valencia Flyers at the historic Ice Station.

Buffalo, N.Y. – Michael Yochum of Las Vegas scored three goals tonight for the ACHA D1 Canisius Golden Griffins in a 4-1 win over Oswego State. This was Michael’s and Canisius first game back from the winter break. Michael, a freshman, has 12 goals this season.

Fayetteville, N.C – The SPHL Fayetteville Marksmen got a 7-5 win over Derek Sutliffe of Las Vegas and the Evansville Thunderbolts before 2313 at the Crown Arena. Derek worked hard on the ice and had two assists for Evansville.

LaCrosse, Wisconsin – Brenden Fehlig of Las Vegas dealt two assists to help the hometown NA3HL Coulee Region Chill beat the Breezy Point North Stars of Minnesota 6-4 here at the Green Island Arena. Outside the arena during this game it was snowing with temps in the 32-degree range.

Salt Lake City – The Anthony Greener-coached #21 ranked UNLV Rebels will take on Utah University here Friday, Saturday nights at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. The Utah team includes goal scorer Joe DiBenedetto, born in Anchorage, and who played three seasons on AAA Las Vegas Storm tier hockey teams at the Las Vegas Ice Center. Joe has 6 goals, 6 assists this season for Utah University.

Coach Greener said “We are going to start the same lineup that we had in our first game against Minot except David Anderson who will start in the net against Utah on Friday night.

“We just need to play our systems. When we do and we play hard we are a very tough team to beat.”

From the Blue Line – There will be a snowy mix with temps in low 30s outside of the arena on Friday night….Rebels goalie David Anderson has a 1-2-0 record, 2.70 gaa and a 90.0% save percentage – a bigtime goalie.
