San Diego – Patrick Conroy scored two goals as the Las Vegas Storm Midget A rallied to tie the Cal Wave 3-3 here in the Fun in the Sun Labor Day Tournament at San Diego Arena. Conroy was named the game Most Valuable Player.

Las Vegas was down 3-0 but a great glove save by goalie Zane Branson ignited the club who outshot the Wave 15-4 in the third period.

“It was 0-0 going into the third period when the Kings scored on a 5-on-3,” said Las Vegas coach Micah Sanford. “We really played well against the top Kings bantam club. We’re a bit short-handed but the effort we got was great.”

Las Vegas is 0-2-0 here with losses of 2-1, 1-0 in the Labor Tournament.

San Diego – Kyle Molony had two goals and dealt three assists as Evan Zucker’s Las Vegas Storm Midget A team opened the season with a 12-1 win over Cal Heat at the Fun in The Sun Tournament in the San Diego Ice Arena.

Mikey Yocum, Jacob Wrzesinski and Jake McKenna each had two goals. Zane Branson was in the net stopping 10 of 11 shots. The Storm had more shots 55-11.

“Pretty good first game. Let’s see if we can keep rolling,” said coach Evan after the game.

//Vito Carlo of Las Vegas scored for the AAA West Coast Renegades-Utah 16u in a 7-1 loss to the host AAA San Jose Jr Sharks 16u at the USHL AAA Labor Day Tournament

Goal scorer Vito Carlo of Las Vegas has moved to Utah and has been working hard on the ice to get ready for Labor Day Weekend. All of the AAA West Coast Renegades teams of Utah are playing in the San Jose USHL Showcase tournament. Vito and the U16 National Team will start out on Friday against the San Jose Jr. Sharks 16AAA. They will also be playing the Alaska All Stars 16AAA and the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16AAA.

Cameron Zucker, the youngest of all of the Zucker hockey players, is on the roster of the Micah Sanford-coached Las Vegas Storm Bantam AA team. The club opens the season at the L.A. Jr Kings Labor Day Tournament. Cameron, 13, will be easy to spot on the ice. He sets up at left wing and then rockets right to the attack net. Hockey mom Natalie Zucker will be on the road trip as well.

It’s going to be a busy Labor Day weekend. Head coach Evan Zucker is taking his Las Vegas Storm Midget AA/A team to the Fun in the Sun Tournament at the San Diego Ice Arena for Labor Day. The games begin Friday. First up will be the Cal Heat.

Las Vegas – Coach Evan Zucker’s AA/A Las Vegas Storm 16u opens the season Labor Day Weekend. The Storm will first play against Cal Heat in the ‘Fun in the Sun’ Tournament at the San Diego Ice Arena.

“I am extremely happy with what our team looks like,” said Evan. “I’d say we are a high A to low AA at the moment with the potential to really be a solid AA team for the U.S. Nationals.”

The Storm, who skate out of the Las Vegas Ice Center, plans to start Jacob Wrezinski, Kyle Maloney and Brendan Felig on the top line. The game against Cal Heat on Friday is at 10:30 am. Next, the Storm takes on the San Diego Oilers at 10:10 pm. The Storm has games on Saturday and Sunday before the eliminator games get underway.
