Las Vegas –  UNLV’s high-powered hockey club held onto its ACHA D2 West #10 rating in a new Top 10 released today.  This weekend UNLV will take on West #14 ranked San Jose State at the Las Vegas Ice Center. UNLV is coached by Anthony Greener and Nick Robone.

Here are the new Western rating released today:

#1 ARIZONA STATE ELITE (12 first place votes) 10 points

#2 UTAH UNIVERSITY 20 points

#3 UTAH STATE 30 points

#4 NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY 41 points

#5 ASU MAROON 50 points

#6 WEBER STATE 60 points

#7 MONTANA TECH 79 points

#8 NORTHERN COLORADO 86 points

#9 BOISE STATE 90 points

#10 UNLV REBELS 97 points

Las Vegas –  The WSHL Las Vegas Storm with its greatest goal scorer in team history – Vincent Dekumbis from Fribourg, Switzerland – will be in action this Thursday to open a three-game weekend series against the Phoenix Knights.

Dekumbis, 18, scored 17 goals last season. He has a team-leading 19 goals this year for a total of 36 career goals. He was recruited and signed by the Storm’s super scout and assistant coach Matt Johnson two years ago.

The Storm, coached by Gabe Gauthier, are 7-11-3 and are coming off a dramatic win over the WSHL San Diego Sabers. Phoenix is 9-9-3 and comes into town with its 19-goal scorer, Dominick Synet.

All games will be at the Las Vegas Ice Center on the North Rink.

From the Blue Line –  The Storm’s leading goal scorers are Vincent Dekumbis 19, Arrigo Burgener 8, Isaiah Letendre 8, Filip Hedvall 6, JC Lachapelle 5, Tino Nummela 4, Nikita Tsvetov 4….Nikita, a premier defenseman in the WSHL, was the 2014 Vegas Hockey ‘Defenseman of the Year.’

Moline, Illinois –  Zach Pochiro of Las Vegas dealt the game-winning assist –  passing the puck to linemate Austin Coldwell who scored in OT – to help lift the ECHL Quad City Mallards to a 2-1 overtime win over Indy Fuel before 2206 at the lWireless Center on Sunday night. Zach, a draft pick of the NHL St. Louis Blues, now has 5 goals, 8 assists for Quad City. Quad City is now 10-7-1 overall; Indy Fuel is 9-7-1.

Schwennigen, Germany –  Defenseman Connor Haney of Las Vegas had an assist for the Schwenningen Fire Wings in a 5-2 win over Heilbron today. Connor now has 2 goals, 15 assists for 17 points this season.

Saturday, November 28, 2015 –

Moline, Illinois – Zach Pochiro had an assist on a game-winning powerplay goal to help the ECHL Quad City Mallards beat the Cincinnati Cyclones 2-1 before 3291 at the iWireless Center on Saturday Night.  Zach, a draft pick of the NHL St. Louis Blues, has 5 goals, 7 assists for Quad City this season.

Huntsville, Alabama – Cory Ward of Las Vegas scored the first goal of the game to help Bemidji State beat Alabama-Huntsville 4-1 before 1507 at the Von Braun Center. Cory, a senior, scored his second goal of the season and his 38th career goal for Bemidji State. Cory was also +3 on the night. Bemidji State raised its record to 4-6-3; Alabama-Huntsville is now 3-8-1.

Potsdam, N.Y. – Joey Raats of Las Vegas dealt an assist for Arizona State in a 3-2 loss to Clarkson before 2196 at Cheel Arena. Joey, a freshman, has one goal, 10 assists this season.

Prince George BC – Gage Quinney of Las Vegas had an assist on the game-tying goal in regulation for the WHL Kamloops Blazers who won 4-3 in an OT/Shootout over the Prince George Cougars before 3256 at the CN Centre. Gage is having an awesome season. He began the season with the WHL Kelowna Rockets, then was dealt to Kamloops. His combined season statistics are 11 goals, 17 assists for 28 points.  Kamloops is 4-0-0 vs Prince George this season and the two teams play again Saturday night.

Innsbruck, Austria –  Chris Francis of Las Vegas scored the OT game-winning shootout goal in a 2-1 win for the Rob Pallin-coached Sapa Fehervar AV19 on Thanksgiving Day. It was the 7th win in a row for coach Rob’s club. On Friday night Sapa Fehervar AV19 will be playing in Dornbirn which is on the border of Austria and Switzerland.
