Las Vegas goal scorer Brendan Harris tweeted he is returning to the NAHL Wenatchee Wild who are coached by Bliss Littler. The WSHL Las Vegas Storm is 2-0-0 and closes out its weekend today against the WSHL San Diego Jr Gulls. The game will be noon today at the Iceoplex in Escondido, California. The Storm’s great goalie play and special teams have been a big factor in the first two games.

The #1 goal Las Vegas goal scorer away from home is Ethan Montoya – 9 goals, 7 assists for the AAA Ontario Avalanche 18u. Ethan last winter played for the Anthony Greener-coached AA Las Vegas Jr Wranglers 18u at the SoBe Ice Arena.

This is for Las Vegas hockey dad Steven Allen: while housecleaning hockey mom Mary Margaret Samuels found a Las Vegas Mustangs hockey cap worn years ago by your son Jason. Contact me leesamuels07@aol.com and we will get it over to you. It’s in great shape.

Got a note from Ron and Sandy, parents of Utah goalie Philip Curtis who left the game following his freshman year at college. Phil is working on getting his commercial airline pilots license. All are doing well which is the good news.

To Scooter, Rebels fan: Frank ‘Gramps’ Perone did not make it to the UNLV games at San Diego this weekend.

Escondido, Ca. – The first game for the LV Storm resulted in a win as the Storm edged the Gulls 3-2 on Friday night. The Storm got off to an early lead with a back door goal and First goal in Franchise history by Arrigo Burgener with the assist going to Vincent Dekumbis. The Team played a strong and fairly disciplined game despite a couple injuries and penalties. Gernont Wegerer stood tall between the pipes recording 29 saves on 31 shots for a .935 SV% and shut down the Gulls in the critical time of the remaining minutes when the Gulls were putting on the pressure to even the score.

“I was happy with the play of the team in the first game. This is a long season and we will have ups and downs which is common and as a staff we will have to make corrections and give direction to the players every game. The team played hard and showed true grit at times. As a coach that is a positive thing to see and expect,” said coach Gabe Gauthier.

The Storm had two other goals from Vincent Dekumbis in the 1st and Quinn Travis which turned out to be the game winning goal in the 2nd period. Alkhas Kochkarev, Moritz Matzka, Vincent Dekumbis and Arrigo Burgener recorded assist on the Storm’s three goals. Arrigo Burgener had a hand in all three goals with a team leading 3 points in the first game.
